I am no longer offering consultations for counselling but continue to provide clinical supervision for health and other professionals.
Previously as a counsellor I helped individuals experiencing a range of personal and interpersonal difficulties and challenges. When things are not going so well or become difficult, friends, family and colleagues can be great sources of help and support. But from time to time you may need additional support from a qualified counsellor who can provide a more objective perspective and help identify and develop strategies to deal with particular situations.
I have previously worked with couples and families from all sexuality and gender identities including lesbian, gay, bisexual, heterosexual, pan, poly, trans, non-binary.
Counselling is a facilitated process that enables a person to explore thoughts and feelings, improve self-awareness, gain insight, develop strategies to manage particular situations and make changes that improve self-esteem, confidence and wellbeing.
Different approaches to counselling will suit different people at different times. It is important that you find a counsellor with whom you feel comfortable and confident that they are suited to your particular circumstances and can assist you to reach your individual goals.
Counselling can be different things to different people, but essentially counselling is based on a relationship between the individual and the counsellor that can lead to better understanding and improved strategies for dealing with particular situations.
People come to counselling to explore a wide range of issues related to aspects of self and relationships with others, identity, spirituality, past and current experiences, parenting, family, work, study, stress, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, or other experiences or concerns important to you.
Counselling is a safe and confidential environment where you can explore thoughts and feelings and identify unhelpful ways of thinking or behaviours that are getting in the way of you reaching your potential. Counselling supports individuals through difficult situations, guides decision making and supports change.
